New Minister 

After the Baird Government's re-election in March 2015, Victor Dominello was sworn in as the state's first Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation. Mr Dominello is responsible for NSW Fair Trading and the NSW Government's ICT Strategy as well as leading on a range of open government, data analytics, innovation and regulatory reform initiatives.....  Read more about the Hon Victor Dominello 

Charitable fundraising

From 1 July 2015, NSW Fair Trading assumes responsibility for administering the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991, which outlines how an organisation can legally undertake charitable fundraising activities.....Read more about Charitable fundraising

Fair Trading issued a renewed warning on recalled and dangerous electric heaters, including the Sunair model FHS35 plastic bodied fan heater recalled in 2009. Trader fined after prohibited heater causes fire

A Rockdale trader has been fined $1500 and ordered to pay costs of $1587 after she sold a prohibited gas cabinet heater that caught fire. 
Mrs Assiya Habb, trading as Casablanca Gifts at Rockdale, sold the 'JANA' brand portable LPG fuelled gas cabinet heater to a Rose Bay man in 2013 and the heater did not have certification prior to being sold .... Read more on this real case 

Arrest warrant out for elusive trader 

Fair Trading has announced an arrest warrant is out for Sydney trader Khairul Hasan Sikder after the defendant failed to appear at court hearing.  It is alleged that in April 2013 a consumer paid Mr Sikder $35,000 to build a granny flat believing the trader would gain necessary council approvals to complete the job. Not only did the trader fail to lodge an application for building approval, they left the job incomplete...... Read more on this real case

Multicultural events and activities

Fair Trading takes part in community and multicultural events and delivers information sessions, presentations and seminars to community members from CALD backgrounds to provide greater awareness on consumer rights issues.
